(The glass swimming inside the body)

(A young woman was admitted to the hospital one day after a mass was found in the sacrococcygeal region)

(B-ultrasound shows cystic echoes in the subcutaneous muscular layer)

(The X-ray shows a foreign body)

(Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) shows abnormal signals)

(The CT scan showed multiple foreign bodies under the skin, in the muscles and bones, among which one was punctured into the sacrum)

(The patient recalled a history of glass wound injury on the back over ten years ago)

(It is considered that the foreign object in the sacrococcygeal region is the residual glass on the back that swam to the sacrococcygeal region over ten years ago)

(Three pieces of glass were removed under anesthesia)

(We used a grinding drill to remove the surrounding bone before taking out the piece of glass that pierced the sacrum)

(This case reminds us that when there may be foreign objects remaining in an open wound, X-ray or CT examinations must be conducted to avoid omissions and prevent sharp objects from moving and damaging important organs. Of course, there is also a possibility that some foreign bodies or those that are too small may not be visible even on a CT scan.)
